Superhero Sebbie Hall Brings A Smile To The Faces Of 52 Orphans From Ukraine
May 3, 2022 Be My BearOur superhero Sebbie Hall brought a smile to the faces of 52 orphans rescued from Ukraine when he travelled 300 miles to personally deliver his eponymous bears as part of the children’s Easter celebrations in Edinburgh.
Sebbie, who came to prominence during lockdown for his random acts of kindness, wanted to do his bit to help the children evacuated from Dnipro last month. The orphans, who were rescued from the war-torn country by a Scottish football charity, had been moved from Stirling to Edinburgh where they are currently continuing their studies and acclimatising to life in Scotland.
“Sebbie read about their plight and wanted to do something to help” said mum Ashley. “Next thing we knew, we and 52 teddies were heading north for Edinburgh!”
Not only did Sebbie deliver the bears, sporting their personalised T-shirts and Kindness hearts and cards, but he presented the children with a cheque for £1,350 from money raised through his Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation.
A number of individuals sponsored the bears and sent personalised messages to the youngsters, aged between 2 and 19, on the Kindness cards which the Sebbie Bears carry with them.
Be My Bear also sponsored passports for each of the bears so that the children could record their travels through Scotland and reflect on their long journey from Ukraine via Poland where paperwork hold-ups delayed their flight to the UK.
Sebbie has attracted the attention of a number of celebrities following his campaign including actor Eddie Marsan, a patron of the Foundation, and Ant and Dec, Saturday Night Takeaway hosts. Ant and Dec recorded a personal thank you after receiving their very own Sebbie bears which they said struck a particular chord with them as their “Happiest Minute on TV” slot also spread the message of kindness.
The children who were given their Sebbie bears were similarly impressed, recording their own video of thanks to Sebbie, his mum and all the sponsors for their teds who we hope will help them as they settle into life in Scotland where they have been offered care and support for as long as they need it.
