Top of The Party Pops

July 10, 2024 Be My Bear

Children’s parties have evolved down the years so that the 21st century child has a huge choice when it comes to birthday celebrations. Gone are the days when jelly and ice-cream and traditional party games sufficed. Today’s children are now hard pressed to make a decision.

For the most fun and entertaining party, why not try a theme which revolves round an idea, hobby or interest that your child and his or her cohort group have. Things that your kids are “in to” will be guaranteed to keep them amused, entertained and inform the decision on whether to hold the party “at home” or at a venue. When it comes to kids party ideas, do check with your birthday child the theme chosen is one they agree to! A themed party does take time in the planning and organising, but it’s well worth it when your kids party is a huge success and you find that the guests don’t want to go home.

It’s always best to involve your child in the planning stage of their party, agree on the theme, (they might have their own unusual ideas that you had never thought of) dressing up, party games to play, activities to do as well as food and drink. Older boys and girls often enjoy a sports party with organised games in a sports hall or circuit stations which the children move to when the whistle is blown. Continue the theme with appropriate tableware and choose sports related prizes for the winners of the games. Other kids party ideas include a film star party or princess party where the birthday child becomes the film star for the day or the guests turn up in Disney costumes for the event.

Party ideas will vary depending on the age of the child – younger children will enjoy a princess, super-hero or pirate related party with traditional party games thrown in; older children might choose a pamper or make-over party with a sleepover. Then you have the creative party – one of the best hands on kids party ideas ever as there’s no need to worry about goody bags with all the children going home with their very own creations. Bear-making, jewellery, T-shirt and soap making as well as general crafts are always great parties as the children have fun whiling away hours creating, and then personalising their jewellery, teddy bear or T-shirt.

If you choose a bear-making party, Build-A-Bear offer an in store experience which excludes food. The birthday girl or boy and guests choose their bears which are stuffed for them, and have the add-on option of outfits, footwear and sound recorders with a guest appearance from the Build A Bear mascot. The package costs £55 per head, although there are also cheaper options available starting at £14 per head to include a small bear. Be My Bear offer the DIY version which is a hands-on interactive experience with the child stuffing their furry friend and bringing it to life themselves. Our teddy bear or animal party packages range from the mythical and magical to jungle, farm and under the sea themes as well as the traditional teddy bear making parties. Each kit contains animal skin, stuffing, wish upon a heart or star charm, birth certificate, party carry bag, invitations and full instructions. Party packs for 10 children start at under £100 making it a partiuclarly budget friendly option.

There is always huge pressure on parents when it comes to arranging the dream birthday party for their child, budgets are often tight and the cost of living is squeezing many families. But cheaper options can often provide more fun and laughter than the expensive alternatives. A birthday picnic in the park or on the beach with traditional party games and treasure hunts can offer the best of celebrations just provided the weather holds !
