Guide: How to build your animal or bear making kit from Be My Bear
There is nothing quite like building your very own teddy bear or stuffed animal. In fact, building your own fluffy friend makes the friendship between yourself and your new friend extra special and hopefully you'll be friends for life. But how do you build your Be My Bear kit once it arrives? Either follow the instruction sheet supplied with your new teddy bear or stuffed animal making kit, or the more comprehensive guide below and you won't go wrong!
Building your bear
- Remove the provided stuffing from its bag and gently tease the stuffing to make it soft and fluffy ready for placing inside your new fluffy friend. The more time you take to tease and pull the stuffing, the softer your new friend will be. You can't get this step wrong so make sure to have plenty of fun, if you want to throw your stuffing in the air or have a "fluffball" fight (the softer, safer alternative to snowball fights), then go ahead!
- Take your unstuffed teddy bear or unstuffed animal and make sure that both openings (usually located on your new friends back) are open and not closed. The outer opening is Velcro (usually with a fabric safety strip across the coarse side of the Velcro which will need removing when you wish to finally close your fluffy friend) and the inner opening is a one-way zipper. You may now start to stuff your teddy bear or animal making sure to fill the arms, legs and head first. You may find the head is pre-stuffed or partially filled.
- Next it's time to take the provided wishing charm and add it to your teddy bear or animal just like you did to add the stuffing. Again you can make this step as fun or imaginative as you wish and depending on how much time you have. Some great ideas include:
- Rubbing the charm on your chest to give your new friend love.
- Rubbing the charm on your head to give your new friend brains.
- Squeezing the charm in your hand to give your new friend courage.
If you really want to ramp up the fun, why not get everyone laughing by:
- Rubbing the charm on your cheek to make your new friend a little cheeky!
- Balancing the charm on your nose and spinning in circles to add fun to your new friend!
- Throwing the charm into the air and then catching it to give your new friend dreams!
- If you have an optional sound module for your teddy bear or stuffed animal making kit then please now add it into your fluffy friend too. Remember to make sure you have recorded your sound and placed the sound recorder into the "P" (which stands for Play) mode.
- After everything has been placed inside of your new friend, close the internal opening by using the zipper (which should have a piece of thread to use as a handle). Once this zipper is closed, remove the thread by cutting with a pair of scissors. This should stop little hands from gaining access to the stuffing, wishing charm and optional sound recorder. PLEASE NOTE: If you ever need to gain access to your bear or animal, either for cleaning or to replace batteries inside the optional sound recorder, a paperclip can be used to "hook" the zip and open it up.
- Now you are ready to close the outer Velcro opening which will usually have a fabric safety strip covering one side of the Velcro (the coarse side) when you first get your teddy bear or animal making kit. This fabric strip (if in place) should be removed which will then make it possible to Velcro the opening shut. It should be possible to close your bear so that the opening is hardly visible to the eye.
- Finally it's time to name your new best friend. Fill out the included birth certificate and officially welcome your new fluffy friend into the world... Make sure to show them around, offer them a cup of tea and maybe a biscuit or three!
