Superhero Sebbie's Christmas gift of kindness

December 6, 2023 Be My Bear

Our very own Superhero Sebbie Hall is a role model to many, but he now he has his very own model – a statue in a prime spot overlooking Tower Bridge in London. Sebbie has been awarded the title of UK Kind Hero for 2023 after performing countless numbers of selfless acts this year.

The 6ft tall likeness shows 20 year old Sebbie wearing a superhero cape, inspired by his motto “kindness is my superhero.” Sebbie, who was born with a rare chromosome anomaly, has been surprising strangers with random acts of kindess for the past three years beginning during the Covid lockdown.

His good deeds, including gifting Be My Bear’s teddy bears to households during the pandemic, led to him being chosen from 500 deserving applicants as the Kind Snacks winner for 2023.

The statue was unveiled in the capital by Mission Impossible III and Sherlock Homes star, Eddie Marsan, a patron of the Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation which Sebbie and his mum Ashley set up and which has donated tens of thousands to individuals, community groups and projects. The foundation focuses largely on helping vulnerable youngsters – a cause close to Sebbie’s hear – and inspiring others to follow his example.

The statue was unveiled on November 13, officially designated as World Kindness Day, celebrating Sebbie and the amazing work he does to spread kindness every day.

Sebbie said after the unveiling of his statue “I want to make people happy inside. Kindness is my superpower.” The statue will be later transported to Sebbie’s home town, Lichfield in Staffordshire.

Be My Bear has been involved with Sebbie for the last two years after learning about his kindness in gifting our bears to random strangers as one of his daily acts of kindness durting the Covid years.

We worked with Sebbie and Ashley to create a Sebbie Bear sporting a kindness T-shirt, card and yellow kindness heart. A second bear Sebbie Teddy’s cousin has now been adopted as their official fundraising charity bear with donations going to the Foundation for every bear sold.

Ashley put out a plea to join their mission to make the world a kinder place. “When you purchase a Sebbie Teddy, you're not only bringing home a cuddly companion but also contributing to a greater cause”, she said. “All proceeds from Sebbie sales go to The Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation, which supports projects that prevent loneliness in disabled young people.”

Sebbie has also has made a contribution to the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre where a special "Act of Kindness Panto" is being performed throughout December with the entire cast engaging in acts of kindness. For each performance throughout the entire panto run, the cast will give away one Sebbie Bear as an Act of Kindness.

Sebbie has provided 100 free tickets for disadvantaged kids to attend the Wolverhampton panto and 400 for the Birmingham Hippodrome where he has just been named a patron.

So it's a 10 for our super hero from all the Be My Bear team - we salute you Sebbie !
