Working towards the greater good
Nobody is PAWfect but at Be My Bear we try hard to do our little bit to help make life more “bearable” for those in need. Over the past 19 years we have supported a number of local and national charities helping them raise funds while having fun.
St David's Hospice
We have long been supporters of the hospice movement, in particular St David’s Hospice in the nearby town of Llandudno, which provides end of life specialist palliative care for patients in North Wales. We designed an exclusive bear for St David’s every year for over a decade to help promote their Lottery Fundraiser which raised thousands of pounds towards their annual running costs.
Blind Veterans UK
Last year we became involved in a project with Blind Veterans UK – a charity helping ex-service men and women overcome sight loss. We supplied them with make-a-bear kits for craft classes to help develop motor skills along with bespoke Teddy T-shirts sporting the charity’s logo to assist with fundraising and also a marketing campaign.
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity
We are currently partnering with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity which provides specialist nurses and family support for seriously ill children in the UK. We've worked closely with them to design a special edition of their charity mascot, Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile, and we donate a percentage of every Marvin sale to the charity.
We offer discounted fundraising packages to a wide range of charities from COPS – Care of Police Survivors to Little Heartbeats – a charity raising awareness about a serious pregnancy condition – as well as brownie groups, schools and playgroups all needing to raise funds for each of their very deserving causes.
The School Bear Project
In 2019 we started working with local schools on a School Bear Project supplying each school with a teddy with personalised t-shirt. The children – and all of us here at Be My Bear – have had great fun monitoring the bears’ activities through photographs the children take of their teds joining them during their school day either in class or on school trips.
The Refill Campaign
We are very proud of the fact that our retail shop and warehouses here in Mochdre have joined the Refill Campaign and become one of more than 20,000 locations across the UK helping to cut down on plastic pollution. Refill offers a “Tap App” which allows people looking for water, to find businesses where they can refill their bottles on the go for free.
People need bears and bears need people, and as we move into a brand new decade we are confident that our teddy chums will help us continue raising funds and smiles across the miles!
